Around the House

Taking the tour

The house from the front is quite pretty this time of year. The 2 large trees up front are pecans and are the 2 biggest of the 12 or so we have on the property. They can be a bit of work with all the leaves and such in the fall but the money we get when we sell the pecans sure helps out a bit with the Christmas holidays that arrive right after the season.

Turning the camera the other way you can see what a crowded neighborhood it is down here.

Off to the south side we find the home away from home. This is our Toy Hauler RV that allows us to put the bike in the back and head out to enjoy our time off. Now if gas prices would just come back down we might be able to afford taking it somewhere. :(

Now in the back yard we find the barns . The upstairs of the larger is somewhat of an apartment and now has a heat pump to keep the temp comfortable, and run up the bill. I guess no barn is complete with barn cats. We have 2 inside cats but this "mama" cat showed up and decided to have her litter here. The mother cat is friendly but as yet only Cindy can get near the remaining 3 little ones.

We've put in the time to get the pool ready early this year but the warmth ain't quiet yet there. I got in it last weekend and it was still a bit cold. Shouldn't be much longer before we can really enjoy it as the daily high temp has be well above 80° this past week.

The previous owner took the swing and slide tower with them as they moved out. The sandbox was a bit much to deal with so it was left behind. We've talked about getting a swing set to go with it but so far we've put that off for other repairs and projects.

This is the first year we've tried to grow a garden out back and it's been doing fairly well so far. Having a bit of a battle with the grass, officially called weeds now, but since it was lawn just before I attacked it with the roto tiller I quess we'll be hoeing weeds all summer.

Even thought the space is small, about 12 x 30, we've managed to produce sunflowers, cucumbers, canalope, watermelon, tomatoes, bell peppers, cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, and onions.

The tomatoes and bell peppers are only a few days away now from producing but they started from purchased plants and all the rest was from seed.
Backtracking to the pool I see the temp is much improved since last I tried it. Kane is ready to learn how to swim.

Well thats the tour for now. I'll get some updated shots of the critters around here for the next update.

Around the Circle again

We spent today mostly at the local Harley dealership participating in the Sweetheart ride, an escorted trip around the town, to raise funds for Special Olympics. About $3400 was collected and donated. Over 240 bikes were riding in line. Cindy's granddaughter was on hand to sell T-shirts and draw winning tickets.

Just a starting point

Starting with an initial post which really won't say much until we figure out what we want to say.
